Why Open Source?

What is Opensource?

In general, opensource refers to any program whose source code is made available for use or modification as users or other developers see fit. (Historically, the makers of proprietary software have generally not made source code available.) Open source software is usually developed as a public collaboration and made freely available. To make it simple,

opensource = Free software which can be modified and distributed.

Why use Opensource?
  • It’s Free
The generic functionality of an opensource system is free. So we are not going to charge our clients for it. That mean the cost for our client is going to be much much lower. We earn from the customization, asthetics design, installation & configuration and value-added modifications to the system.
  • It’s Stable
The source code of opensource systems are seen and tested by developers around the world every seconds. Bugs and security flaws are fixed and reported by the committed community even when you are reading this.
  • It’s Reliable
Opensource system are adopted by miilions of users worldwide. What do you think of “Tested by millions” versus proprietory software which are only “Tested by the few”?
  • It’s Open source
As the name implies, it is open source code! No more hidden codes from your software vendor. No more expensive customization. No more relying on single vendor. No more royalty or license fee. You switch to another vendor easily even when your present opensource vendor closes down.
  • It’s Faster to deploy
The fact is opensource system is already of-the-shelf. So you can cut down on development time/cost tremendously, and concentrate on other aspect like aesthetics and marketings.
  • It’s not New
If you think opensource is new to you, think about Oracle, mySQL, Linux, OpenOffice, StarOffice, Word Perfect and the Corel Office suite. These are all open source softwares and have been around for years.
